Hobies

I did consciously other things besides IT: Freeclimbing (Not anymore, but for ten years), studying Philosophy, Music.

However, I experience a real fascination making things work. Not only by programming, I experimented with electronics and built audio amplifiers, for example. (E.g. Single ended Class A, interestingly this gets into the direction of a tube amplifier, albite built with transistors. It’s a nice discussion)

It might have been in 1994, when I got known the first demos. My PC (a Cyrix M1) was hardly able to play videos. And I was fascinated by the moving pictures. “Second Reality” has been the demo, I’ve been running over and over. Since I started programming with gwbasic in 1990, I also realized, in how genius the hackers have been, realizing such animations at the quite restricted hardware back then.

I really have fun, applying some tricks, and thinking about how some things can be implemented the most resource saving way.
